With every great Smartphone, comes the unending list of potential rumors and possible features we might get to see in the final product. The Note 20 is no exception to that, and the rumors for the phone have already started pouring in. By the looks of it, Samsung has heard us, and is trying to rectify the mistakes they made with the S20 in their upcoming flagship.
Here is what we know, and why this phone might be a substantial improvement over the S20, especially in India.
Starting off, one of the biggest problems we faced with the S20, was the Exynos 990 chipset. Yes it is very powerful, but surely does not match up against the Snapdragon 865. There were several issues especially while gaming for an extended period of time. Samsung has reportedly been working on a new chipset, the Exynos 992, which is based off a 6nm process rather than the 7nm on the 865. This should lead to better performance, and higher efficiency from the chip. This could be Samsung's answer to the 865, as the 990 was definitely not at par.
Next up, we had problems with the camera, especially the famous 108Mp camera on the S20 Ultra. Now surely the camera was great, and took impressive shots, but it was not really "there". With all the hype generated over the camera, and the massive 108Mp sensor, we expected a lot from this camera, but these expectations were not really met. There were several issues with the auto-focus as well, and it was more of an issue while recording video. Samsung again has apparently been working on a solution to this, by either ditching the sensor itself, or by working on a refinement of the camera, probably by installing a new type of a lens, and corresponding improvements in the software. We should see much better performance on the Note 20, what we expect from this company.
Lastly, there has been word that Samsung has been working on In-Display camera sensors for quite sometime now, and it may make its big debut on the Note 20. This means that the front camera would be hidden under the Display, and this would lead to a full screen, notchless experience, without the need to use any sort of mechanical moving parts. However this news has been countered by many more sources, which claim that Samsung is simply not ready yet to manufacture this technology commercially. So, this most likely is not going to happen, but just a piece of information, even if there is a slight possibility.
So what do we think? Well, Samsung has surely heard us, they know what they did wrong with their previous smartphone, and they are trying to rectify it. Of-course, along with this, the price also has to be a major point of discussion. If they end up charging a ridiculous amount for the phone, all their efforts would be worthless. All we can do now, is wait and see what the final phone turns out to be, and how much they have managed to improvise.
Do note that these are rumors based off the Internet. Although the sources are fairly credible, these are not official announcements by Samsung, and should not be considered final.
