The Samsung Story...

Samsung, a one of the most reputed companies in the smartphone industry, has also been a victim of a lot of criticism by people. Past experiences with this company have led to people losing faith in the company, but recent innovations have also got a lot of them coming back, and happier than ever. Here we take a look at our thoughts of this company, and what kind of a place this company holds in the market.

In the past, in the mid range and budget market, Samsung phones were not up to the mark. They were seriously under-powered, and had almost nothing to offer which other brands weren't providing, and at much lower prices. Companies like Xiaomi, Honor, Realme, provided much better phones, with superior hardware. Even on the software front, Samsung wasn't as great. Companies like Motorola provided a stock android experience, while the Experience UI by Samsung was full of bloatware and was pretty laggy. I'm talking specifically about the J and the ON series. They did have descent displays, but that was more or less their only selling point. Most of the Indian market is comprised of price conscious buyers, who want the best possible deal, at affordable prices. This led to a downfall in the company's popularity, and led to a rise in the sales of these popular Chinese smartphones.
With the M series, the company tried to change some of that. They brought in better hardware, and also incorporated the new One UI into their budget smartphones. Certain features like huge 6000 mAh batteries are almost exclusive to these phones, and the displays are one of the best. But still they lag behind when it comes to pure performance. In my opinion, in a market like India, the company should be focusing on providing the best value for money devices, especially at this price. They have the power and resources to pull it off, and we hope they keep the consumer demands in mind when they offer us their next generation line-up.

Then we have the A series of their smartphone line-up. These phones do not fall as far behind the competition as the M does, but they are still not the best phones to buy at the price. We have phones from Xiaomi like the k20 pro, which comes with top of the line hardware and great camera capabilities at this price. Even an older generation OnePlus device is fairly capable of taking on the A series. However, the current A51 and to some extent the A71, are actually great smartphones. They offer us great performance and the latest One UI which is snappy and greatly optimized. This makes for an interesting package by the company and is one of their most popular devices. Samsung is doing well in this range, however, they could use a little push, and bringing the price a bit lower would make all the difference in the world.

Now come to talk about the higher end of the spectrum, the premium devices, namely the S and NOTE series. They are the one of the best smartphones in their domains. Google, Huawei, OnePlus etc. all are good, but fall short to Samsung. The Samsung smartphones here come packed with everything, and flaunt class like no other. Although, now with OnePlus entering the premium segment with the pro series, it will be interesting to see how Samsung prices their next generation line-up. The OnePlus 8 pro already has got Samsung down on its knees, with a highly aggressive price point, and almost all of the flagship features, capable of even taking down the beastly S20 Ultra. Check out our detailed comparison here.

The foldables by the company don't really fall into any category. They are pure innovation, and really speak for themselves. However, gone are the days when these devices were highly exclusive and thus could be charged however. With Huawei and Motorola both launching their foldables, Samsung needs to bring down the cost of its devices, and also be sure to provide top quality hardware.

It really depends which smartphone you are looking for. Samsung does keep up its name in the premium segment, but fails in the lower market. In general, I believe that if they are able to bring down their prices, and are able to compete with the highly aggressively priced Chinese Smartphones, it will be able to regain its lost market power as there are still many Samsung Fans out there, but they also need to rationally compare and evaluate the best possible value proposition.

Realme... A formidable player?

All of us know that Realme has been making some amazing smartphones at some really affordable prices. Their phones have really been the buzz around town, and this growth has boomed quite recently. Here we take a look at this company, and why Realme might be the next big brand to watch out for. A sub-brand of Oppo, Realme started off by launching its first phone, the Realme 1, as recently as May 2018. Instantly it became a rage, and the sales numbers of the company even in its recent years were incredible. The company was started as a rival to the vastly popular and the budget king - Xiaomi. The idea was simple, to offer everything that Xiaomi did, and more at a price point which was just as affordable. The phone was instantly a success. They managed to provide a particularly great camera experience, far better than the ones offered by the rival companies in this segment. This appealed to the young crowd, the main target of this budget category, and the company saw great profits by

Motorola One Fusion Plus ... They are back!

In the past, Motorola had been manufacturing some amazing smartphones in the budget and mid range market, in the range of Rs 15,000 -17,000. After the G6 though, things took a turn downwards for the company. The phones they made were not nearly as good as they used to, and the competition was offering much better options. They launched some flagship smartphones like the Moto Razr and the Moto Edge Plus. But they were not huge success stories for the company too. However, the new Moto One Fusion Plus seems to check all the boxes. Coming in at Rs.17,000, the phone is available at a very good price and might be just the thing the company has been looking for to be back in the budget game. Here is an overview of the phone and our thoughts on it. Display : The Motorola One Fusion Plus comes with a 6.5 inch IPS LCD FHD+ display with a 60Hz refresh rate. The best part about this display is that it is a full view, notch-less design. They are able to achieve this by a pop up front camera, whic
