Google Pixel Buds... Surprisingly Awesome?

The Pixel Buds are here, and these are one of the best truly wireless headphones you can get. They obviously are not perfect, but considering the price they are available for, they actually do a lot, and provide great value and amazing performance. Here is what we have to say about these headphones by google.

To start things off, these buds will be available at a price of $179, which translates to around Rs 13,000. To give you some perspective, the Airpods pro, by Apple are available at around Rs 25,000 and the Galaxy Buds+ by Samsung are available at Rs 14,000. So definitely the Pixel Buds are not really cheap, but they are not insanely priced, considering what it brings to the table.

The buds come with a sleek, small case, capably of supporting wireless charging. On the other plus side, the case also charges via USB C while many of the other buds use the typical micro-USB. The battery life of these buds on a single charge can last you around 5 hrs of listening time. Although it is not incredible, but it certainly is not bad. The case also supports quick charge for the buds, so if you place them in the case for a mere 10 minutes, you shall receive a listening time of another 2 hrs. This is one very impressive feature and is very useful, especially for someone who prefers to use their buds throughout the day, a break of 10 minutes is all they need to keep going.

Coming to the buds itself, they are pretty small, and snugly fit in your ear, giving you a perfect and comfortable fit for long hours of usage. These infact are one of the smallest buds. The design prevents them from falling off your ear even during intense workout sessions. The buds are IP X4 rated, which means they are resistant to sweat and minor splashing. So they can be used in mild rain, or if you sweat during your workout, there is nothing to worry about.

The controls on these buds are very intuitive and easy to use. Single tap to play/ pause, double tap to skip track, triple tap to go to the previous track, and press and hold for the Google Assistant. The buds are touch sensitive. Another impressive feature these buds have is the adaptive sound, which dynamically changes the volume of media based on the noise around you. So if you are in a crowded place, it would automatically increase the volume, and decrease it when you came to a quieter place. This is a useful and a pretty great feature to have.

The sound quality of these buds is also pretty fantastic. Though these buds do not come with active noise cancellation, they create a pretty great seal, and are able to isolate the sounds pretty well. The buds reportedly are not very bass heavy, and based on the kind of music you prefer, this might be a big deal for you. But overall, they do have a very great sound profile, and in general you would not be disappointed.

So overall, the Pixel Buds is a great product by Google, and it is also not insanely priced, and comes with some amazing and unique features. All we gotta do now, is wait for Google to launch them in India.

Realme... A formidable player?

All of us know that Realme has been making some amazing smartphones at some really affordable prices. Their phones have really been the buzz around town, and this growth has boomed quite recently. Here we take a look at this company, and why Realme might be the next big brand to watch out for. A sub-brand of Oppo, Realme started off by launching its first phone, the Realme 1, as recently as May 2018. Instantly it became a rage, and the sales numbers of the company even in its recent years were incredible. The company was started as a rival to the vastly popular and the budget king - Xiaomi. The idea was simple, to offer everything that Xiaomi did, and more at a price point which was just as affordable. The phone was instantly a success. They managed to provide a particularly great camera experience, far better than the ones offered by the rival companies in this segment. This appealed to the young crowd, the main target of this budget category, and the company saw great profits by...

The Future of the Chinese Smartphone Market

With the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic taking center-stage, things are not exactly smooth in the tech space too. Many countries are citing "poor Coronavirus transparency" as their reason to drop Chinese products as their vendors, or to stop doing business with them. Here is what we think the future holds for China. Recently UK decided to drop Huawei as their 5G vendor, and expressed a strong wish to cut all ties with the Chinese tech giant, in the foreseeable future. This doesn't come as a surprise, as people around us are mentioning the same thing, to try to reduce their reliance on Chinese products. But it really is easier said than done. Take the smartphone industry for instance. In India, the market share of Chinese smartphones is well above 65% ( source ). These phones primarily target the budget and mid-range sections of the market. India, being a huge market for the budget smartphones, is heavily dependent on these brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Rea...
