OnePlus Z... They have heard you.

What was our primary complain from the OnePlus 8 series of smartphones? They were just too expensive for the brand. We thought they had forgotten about their core audience, and moved away from the values they held as a company in the start, But no, they have been working on something which is rather impressive, and comes in at a much lower price. Here we give you all we know about the OnePlus Z.

To start things off, nothing has been officially announced, we do not have all the specifications at hand, and all the information has been based off rumors and speculated reports only. So we do not claim that the information here will be a hundred percent accurate and true, but more or less this is what we should be expecting, given the consistent reliability of these leaks.

To start things off, the display. It is going to be something similar to the OnePlus 8, with a FHD+ 90Hz Amoled display, featuring a punch hole design, but this time maybe in the center. The other specifications of the display are said to be the same.

When it comes to the software experience, it will feature the same Oxygen OS 10,based on Android 10. And being launched in the same generation as the 8 and 8 pro, we should be expecting a similar update cycle for this phone too.

The performance is where this phone compromises, but not by much. The main reason why the 8 was priced so high, was because of the Snapdragon 865 processor. It is a very expensive chipset, and the company needs to pay a considerable sum to put them on their phones. However, this time, they decided to go with a cheaper, Snapdragon 765 processor, which is also 5g enabled like the 865, but it is available at a much cheaper price for the company. The performance of this phone will be top notch, and the Snapdragon 7 series of processors have always performed really well, and have also proved to be fairly battery efficient. So although OnePlus has not provided the 'flagship' processor, it has still maintained amazing performance using a similarly powerful chip.

The cameras. We don't really have much details about them, but keeping in mind the general OnePlus trend, it would always like to be a formidable competition within its price segment. This time it goes head to head against the Pixel 4a by Google. So we should expect to see some great camera performance too. The phone will apparently feature a dual camera set up, with mostly an additional 3-D depth sensor. But we are not sure.

Finally, the battery. The phone is set to come with a big battery. How big has not really been specified, but we do believe it should be sufficiently large. So you would not have any problems in the battery front as well. Of course the phone does not support wireless charging, and we do not have an exact idea on the normal charging speeds as well, but being OnePlus, we can be sure that the charging speeds will be fairly quick, somewhere around the 30W mark.

The price. The most important, and possibly the most differentiating factor about this phone is the price. It is supposed to start at $400, which directly corresponds to around Rs. 28,000-30,000. But as we have seen with their other devices, we should be expecting the phone to be priced even lower in India.

So all in all, we now feel happy about the company, that maybe they didn't really abandon their core principles and it was just unfortunate circumstances which made them hike their prices. I feel, the OnePlus Z is going to be a Grand Success in this country, where people are always looking for the best possible phone at the best possible price, and OnePlus seems to have delivered just that.

Realme... A formidable player?

All of us know that Realme has been making some amazing smartphones at some really affordable prices. Their phones have really been the buzz around town, and this growth has boomed quite recently. Here we take a look at this company, and why Realme might be the next big brand to watch out for. A sub-brand of Oppo, Realme started off by launching its first phone, the Realme 1, as recently as May 2018. Instantly it became a rage, and the sales numbers of the company even in its recent years were incredible. The company was started as a rival to the vastly popular and the budget king - Xiaomi. The idea was simple, to offer everything that Xiaomi did, and more at a price point which was just as affordable. The phone was instantly a success. They managed to provide a particularly great camera experience, far better than the ones offered by the rival companies in this segment. This appealed to the young crowd, the main target of this budget category, and the company saw great profits by...

The Future of the Chinese Smartphone Market

With the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic taking center-stage, things are not exactly smooth in the tech space too. Many countries are citing "poor Coronavirus transparency" as their reason to drop Chinese products as their vendors, or to stop doing business with them. Here is what we think the future holds for China. Recently UK decided to drop Huawei as their 5G vendor, and expressed a strong wish to cut all ties with the Chinese tech giant, in the foreseeable future. This doesn't come as a surprise, as people around us are mentioning the same thing, to try to reduce their reliance on Chinese products. But it really is easier said than done. Take the smartphone industry for instance. In India, the market share of Chinese smartphones is well above 65% ( source ). These phones primarily target the budget and mid-range sections of the market. India, being a huge market for the budget smartphones, is heavily dependent on these brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Rea...
